Chefs or cooks prepare food for their employer, their family and for functions held on the estate. They will manage the kitchen inventory, buy food and create menus to their employer’s tastes.
The chef or cook usually works on their own although they would have extra help for major functions. They are responsible for cleaning the kitchen and utensils and maintaining a high standard of hygiene. In some homes they may be asked to do other duties such as babysitting or some driving, but this would only be by prior arrangement.
